#Cowboys Osa Odighizuwa Defensive Tackle | Film Review / Session ᴴᴰ

At only 23 years old, Odighizuwa has the capability to be a force in the run defense, but he can also help with the pass rush. In 12 games started, he had 3 sacks, 36 tackles, 6 tackles for loss, 11 QB hits, 28 hurries, 37 pressures, and 16 stops. A rookie, but already proved himself to have plenty of potential in his first year with the Cowboys. A third-round pick out of UCLA... Overview "Tweener" with a combination of size and athletic ability that lands him somewhere between base end and three-technique. Odighizuwa has experience playing in just about every alignment imaginable, so he could be ahead of the game from a playbook standpoint. He plays with excellent first-step quickness and good bend that gives him the early advantage as a gap worker and pass rusher. He lacks the mass and anchor strength to handle NFL power as a full-time interior defender. However, his spirited pass rush features quick, efficient hands and non-stop movement, which makes blockers work to keep him out of the gaps. He's rarely overwhelmed at the point of attack, so more mass and play strength could elevate him beyond a rotational backup with sub-package rush potential. Strengths Experience playing every position along the defensive line. Plays with disruptive energy and consistent forward movement. Bursts out of stance and is usually into blocker first. Shoots lifting hands into blocker's shoulders for early leverage. Keeps eyes planted on ball-carrier throughout block engagement. Hands are smooth, accurate and effective at winning battles. Always hunting for gaps and edges. Non-stop effort and will keep working until he leaks through. Plays with excellent pad level with ability to dip under redirection. Bends and corners directly toward the quarterback. Weaknesses Body type feels like it is caught between positions. Isn't going to push NFL offensive linemen around. Urgent pass rush lacks focus and control. Gets ahead of himself and rarely sets up his counters. Will end up on the ground too often. Knocked around while doing battle at point of attack. Not able to rid himself of blocks very quickly. Round 3 ‧ Pick 75
